Sculpture on the Puerto Vallarta Boardwalk

One of my favorite sculptures on the boardwalk (Malecon) is the “Vallarta Dancers” sculpture created by Jim Demetro. Banderas News has a great article which explains the story behind the “Vallarta Dancers” sculpture and how it was produced.

The sculpture is located near the Starbucks on the main plaza. From the main plaza walk towards the beach and make left on the boardwalk and walk about 50 yards and you will see it.

The plaque reads:

The inspiration for the sculpture is the youthful energy, flowing movement, colorful costumes of the talented Xiutla dancers and their instructor and choreographer Prof. Enrique Barrios Limon

Sayulita Webcam List

Sayulita now has a webcam. It’s located at the Sayulita Fish Taco restaurant. The camera is a little slow to load. Just give it a chance

I snapped this photo of pelicans chasing a fishing boat from the boardwalk in downtown, Puerto Vallarta at about 9:00am.

The pelicans were only interested in this particular fishing boat. It must be the on with all of the fish. They didn’t bother with any other boat.

Pictures of Puerto Vallarta

I took this series of pictures of Puerto Vallarta from the same vantage point on the terrace at the Brisas del Mar hotel.

The first picture is facing south towards the beach and rocks at Conchas Chinas. The second photo is facing west torwards the bay. The third picture is facing north shows Olas Altas. And, the fourth picture is facing north-east towards Old Town Puerto Vallarta.

As you can see from the pictures, Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful place, especially at this time of year. It’s sunny and warm with little humidity. It’s hard to believe that it’s the middle of November.

Another fishing photo

I took this photo of an electric pole on the highway to Ixtapa from the parking lot of the Vallartita Restaurant. From the other side of the Vallartita parking lot I took these photos of my favorite time of year.

If you have a chance, take a drive on the highway to Ixtapa/Mascota. Very quickly the city turns into countryside and then the countryside turns into mountains.

I took this picture of people fishing on the pier at Playa Los Muertos just as the sun was coming over the mountains early in the morning.

Marina Vallarta Lighthouse Early Morning

I took this picture of the Marina Vallarta lighthouse at about 8:30 am. Early morning, just as the sun comes over the mountains, is the perfect time to be in the Marina. In a matter of minutes, the Marina explodes in color as the sun chases away the night’s darkness.

While we ate our tacos at our favorite taco stand – El Carboncito, we were serenaded by a saxaphone player.

Street musicians are common throughout Puerto Vallarta, but this is the first time I have seen someone playing the saxaphone.

Tacos and the saxaphone were actually a really good combination. Everyone else seemed to think so too.

We tipped him for his music and for allowing me to take his picture. I hope he is there the next time we go.

Beautiful Sunset in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico

I took this photo from the breakwater in the Nuevo Vallarta Marina on August 4, 2008 at about 7:30pm. Anyone who has spent time in Puerto Vallarta knows how spectacular sunsets can be here.

The breakwater is a great vantage point to take in the sunset. Crowds of people come out every evening. At times the sunset is so beautiful that people cheer as the sun dips below the horizon. I have watched hundreds of sunsets in Puerto Vallarta and I never tire of them.
