Speckled Iguana

While in the laundry room, I noticed that I was being watched by this speckled green iguana. He didn’t seem to have any fear. He just sat there and watched me go about my business.

I went to get my camera to take a few pictures. I try to take pictures of all of the iguanas and lizards that I come across. When I returned to the laundry room, he was waiting patiently for me.

He allowed me to walk right up to him and start snapping pictures. I actually think he was posing for me. He turned his head so that I could get better shots.

Green Iguana Wallpaper – Puerto Vallarta

I had fun making the first free desktop wallpaper, so I decided to create another one. Wallpaper #2 is a huge green iguana with a mohawk.

Iguanas are everywhere in Puerto Vallarta. This one didn’t run away when I approached. I’m sure I wasn’t the first person to take his picture. He seemed like an old pro posing for pictures.

Instructions:

To Save the wallpaper do the following:

If you want to use the desktop image, click on the link below the
photo. Right click on the full size image and then click “Save Picture
As.” Save it to the location of choice on your computer.

To change the background to the new image do the following:

Windows XP – Place your cursor over the desktop and right click.
Click on “Properties.” Click on the “Desktop” tab. Click on the
“Browse” button and find the saved picture. Click “Open.” Click “Apply”
and you have your new desktop image.

Windows Vista – Place your cursor over the desktop
and right click. Click “Personalize.” Click “Desktop Background.” Now
choose the picture and click “OK” and you have your new desktop image.

Iguanas and More Iguanas

Puerto Vallarta is filled with Iguanas. Everywhere you turn, there’s another one. This very large iguana is the most recent one I have encountered.

Fortunately, I had my camera with me to get the shot. It must be used to people because it allowed me to get very close.

Attack of the Big Brown Iguana

You never know what sort of wildlife you will come across in Puerto Vallarta. I had a chance to play golf at the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta this past weekend and while we were playing we were surprised by all sorts of creatures. I was able to snap some photos.

All of the wild animals running around the course kept me distracted from how poorly I was playing. I can always claim that the iguanas made me lose my concentration.

This is the crocodile that lives in the water hazard by hole #4. I now realize that these warning signs are not a joke. I will think twice about searching for the balls that I plunk in the water.

A family of iguanas lives in the drainage system on hole #9 not too far from the clubhouse.

The rocks around the water hazards are full of iguanas.

Perhaps one of the biggest dangers on the golf course, me.

Big Brown Iguana

While we were attempting to get a picture of an emerald green iguana climbing a palm tree we were startled by this big guy, a three foot long garrobo. In puerto Vallarta green iguanas are called iguanas, but the brown-gray iguanas are called garrobos.

He looks mean but Iguanas are usually quite docile. They don’t want

much to do with you. As we moved closer to get a good picture he

scooted away. Iguanas are surprisingly fast when they want to be.

Surprised by an Iguana

You never know what kind of animals you will come across in Vallarta. This Sunday, my wife got quite a surprise when she opened the front door and had an iguana staring at her.

I ran for the camera and managed to shoot a few pictures before the iguana decided it had had enough of us and wandered away.
