My husband and I just visited Mexico for the first time, about 3 months ago. We LOVE spicy food and made sure we picked up a variety of hot sauces while we were there. We bought this Cholula Salsa because we saw a Mexican lady buying a bottle, so we thought it *has* to be good and authentic.

We haven't opened this bottle yet, but now I can't wait!

Cholula Salsa is my absolute favorite condiment. I often see bottles of Cholula on tables in U.Ss restaurants, but it is labeled as Hot Sauce instead of Salsa. I'm not sure if there is a difference, because I only possess the Salsa. Anyway, I first discovered Cholula Salsa in a liquor store in Nuevo Progresso, Mexico. They were giving tasting samples and I bought 3 bottles. I made them stretch over about a year time period until I could go back and buy another 3 bottles. This year I tried to find the salsa in Los Algodones, but they didn't have it! I will start ordering it online so I don't have to ration it or run the risk of running out. We especially like to brush it on salmon filets and chicken breasts and grill them. I really love this stuff!

I've seen this bottle many times but never connected it to the city, Cholula, outside of Puebla. I visited Cholula last year and it is an incredible city, steep with Mexican charm and history. There is a castle built atop a pyramid on the edge of town that is a must see. The town square is very interesting as well. I'll try the hot sauce now. ;)

What is the sauce called with all the strips of onions? I love that one. Had it at Los Xitomates last week. Great place.
